Imran approaches SC for KP-FATA merger

LAHORE: Seeking merger of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan submitted a petition in the Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday.
Imran said in the petition that KP government had fulfilled all the Constitutional responsibilities as required by the FATA Reforms Package announced by President Mamnoon Hussain. He added that KP government was looking forward to the merger.
He further said that a resolution had already been adopted in the provincial assembly and it was only after approaching all other forums that they were approaching SC. He also said that the Constitution of Pakistan assures that people would be given equal rights in the country without any discrimination.
KP-FATA merger was decided by the federal government in January and 30th amendment bill was to be tabled in National Assembly (NA) but the proceedings of FATA Reforms Package were delayed, following a phone call to the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from an allied party’s chief.
